Educational Background

Barry Cohen attended Loyola College, receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in 1965. After graduating from the University of Baltimore Law School in 1969, he was admitted to practice law in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Arizona, and the District of Maryland.

Legal Experience

Barry Cohen's legal career began as a Probation Officer, where he handled an adult caseload and conducted pre- and post-sentence investigations. He then served as a law clerk to a judge on the Circuit Court level. After passing the Bar, Barry Cohen worked as an Assistant Public Defender on all levels of the Court, including several thousand criminal trials on the District Court and the Circuit Court. He successfully argued many cases on the appellate level in addition to writing many briefs. It was in 1977 that Barry Cohen began his role as a private practice attorney.

Community Involvement

Barry Cohen is currently a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the Baltimore County Bar Association, and the Baltimore City Bar Association. He was a guest lecturer at the University of Baltimore Law School and Fathers United, as well as a host of a legal issues talk radio show. He also participates in the Nation College of Advocacy Family Law.
