The Militarization of Police

The Militarization of Police

Since 2008, the Baltimore Police Department has spent more than $589,000 on military-style equipment. This is in addition to military weapons and armor supplied to the police through the federal 1033 program and grants provided by the Department of Homeland Security. All of this adds up to an over-armed police force comprised of officers who, in many cases, have not been properly trained to use the powerfully devastating weapons they are wielding.

National news has been focused on the militarization of police in recent months. Much of this focus has been on the blatant human and civil rights abuses perpetrated by officers who are armed with weapons many-times more powerful than a situation demands. If you have been treated poorly or had your rights violated by an over-zealous officer, you need an experienced criminal defense attorney on your side immediately to ensure you are protected against further abuses.

The Maryland criminal defense attorneys at Cohen & Dwin know how confusing and frightening it can be when police abuse their power. We are here to stand by your side and fight tirelessly for your rights, and to help ensure that true justice is served.

If you are in need of a criminal defense attorney in Maryland, please contact Cohen & Dwin, P.A. to schedule a free consultation. We maintain offices in Baltimore, Bel Air, Columbia, Glen Burnie, Greenbelt, and Ocean City to better serve victims of police abuse throughout our state.
